Raymond & Connie Morris, Instructors

Raymond Morris has lived in Van Buren county all his life.  His mother, an avid birdwatcher, taught her children to appreciate and identify birds.  Raymond has worked at Rockwell International  as an independent contractor and is currently retired.  He served in Viet Nam as a visual combat tracker for the US Army. He likes to hunt and fish, and raises corn, beans, and potatoes in his large home garden.  Raymond has exceptional vision and is able to spot and identify birds very quickly.  He counts eagles and hawks in the county and knows the location of their nests.  He feeds hummingbirds every summer and is entertained by their distinct personalities.  Raymond loves to observe the spring and fall migrations, and see the wide variety of species that pass through Van Buren county.  Connie is postmaster at Keosauqua IA.  She was born and raised in central Illinois.  In 1992, she met Raymond; they were married later that year.  Connie didn't know one bird from another until Raymond taught her how to recognize different species.  Raymond and Connie will be teaching the Birdwatching classes.
