Joy Craig and Reni Pappin are both happily married and each has two children. After knowing each other for ages, Joy and Reni became especially bonded after their first children (both girls) were born within weeks of each other. With babies on their hips and a love of crafts, they began crafting together. They would seize any holiday as a prime time to create – sewing, painting, building, knitting, baking and, don’t forget gardening!
When their daughters began Waldorf school at age three, they discovered needle felting. They were primarily inspired by the preschool, which is focused on the natural world - all the play things are wood, wool and silk.
Equipped with wool roving, some needles and a few books, they set off to become self taught felters, making wool toys for their kids and often calling each other at night to report any new techniques they discovered. They have been felting now for five years.
A year and a half ago they taught their first class: pumpkins. They have since taught many classes including gnomes, Easter bunnies, little Bo Peep and her lost sheep, vegetable cornucopias, hedgehogs, birds, and more.
With a love for wool and all things natural, coupled with their love for working together, they aim to have fun and informative classes.
