Joy Hanson loves to quilt! She has sewn her own clothing since she was ten years old and has been making quilts for over 25 years. Her first class was in hand piecing and hand quilting and she was hooked. Joy taught quilting and sewing classes for nine years at Jo-Ann Fabrics when she and her family lived in Virginia and Ohio. Now that she lives in Bentonsport, she makes time to finish all the tops she made as examples for her classes. For the past 4 years, Joy also creates soy container candles that will delight the senses. Her creations look and smell like mugs of coffee or hot chocolate. Joy and her husband, Chuck, own and operate the Mason House Inn in Bentonsport, where she has an HQ 16 quilting machine on the third floor. Joy prefers the traditional quilt patterns and several of her projects are on display in the Inn. Hand piecing is a good place to start, it's very relaxing and very portable and still Joy's favorite method of quilt making. Joy teaches the Hand Piecing, Appliqué and Quilting Class and Container Candles Class.
