Bonaparte Pottery Experience

Marilyn Thomas, Instructor

During the day-long Bonaparte Pottery Experience, held in a National Archeological site,  Marilyn Thomas will conduct historic tours of the Bonaparte Pottery, and participants will learn how pots are formed using over 150 year old molds.  In addition to learning about the history of the area and the pottery, students can actively participate in a one- to two-hour archeological dig in the pottery basement. There are many pre-made pots and crocks that students can choose to glaze from these molds.  It is doubtful that there is another place where one could custom glaze their own pottery made from 150 year old molds, and learn about an unique site in Iowa and the Midwest--the Bonaparte Pottery.
