Meet Your Instructor: Meg King

Location: Meek Mansion, 706 5th Street, Bonaparte

Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM, break for lunch (bring your own or dine at a local establishment), 1:30 - 4:00 PM

Class Fee: $37.50 per student

Class Size: 2-10 Students

Instructions: To knit a sweater, you only need to know how to increase, decrease, save stitches to a stitch holder and how to pick them up again.  To learn these skills, you will need to bring a sample knit in stocking stitch.  Cast on 30 stitches, then knit in stockinette stitch (knit on row, purl one row) until the sample is two inches long.  This sample can be any size yarn and any size needles.  You will also need a small stitch holder.  These skills will be learned in the morning session.  The sample will not be useable again, but will be unraveled to be used for another project.

For the afternoon session, bring a simple pattern for a sweater or pair of socks (no cables or fancy stitches) and the materials required for that pattern.  Please limit the project to one type of yarn.  Later, you will learn to use more colors in your projects and fancier stitches.  Hats and socks sometimes require the use of double pointed needles.  You may begin your project as soon as you select your pattern and yarn.  If you get stuck, we will work on getting you past that point in class.
